It was a lovely walk last Tuesday at Hyde with lots of talk about many things. Two parties chose a short or long walk. There was much laughter.
Talking in the cafe afterwards, for the only time that I can remember since I have been volunteering, the discussion turned to dementia. The two men I was sitting with shared their thoughts on their own varied experiences of the disease and the strategies they used to try to come to terms with it. Although it was a serious conversation there was much laughter and it was agreed that when possible it helped to try to find humour in the problems the illness posed.
On other tables in the cafe conversations were not so serious and there was talk of childhood memories, cricket and zips vs fly buttons!
