A walk with the Pals at Godshill woods

Now Graham was a dunce, when at school,
They caned him and stood him against the wall.

But on he struggled  with his  solitary book.

Now all his blogs  have a Rupert Bear look.

Swimming in the sparkling sea
Lovely breezy, sunny day at the seaside for our walk.  We discussed many things: how to try to stop time appear to be speeding up as you age, holidays with children on the beach, opera, woodlice, languages, architecture, the new building of estates in Fordingbridge and how rowing is a good exercise.  Then back to the Hut where someone had coffee and an ice cream and  and wasn't allowed to forget it!!
Back to the cafe

Coffee and ice cream (for some) in the Hut.

Walk at Hyde with the Pals on 4th June

It was a lovely walk last Tuesday at Hyde with lots of talk about many things. Two parties chose a short or long walk.  There was much laughter.

Talking in the cafe afterwards, for the only time that I can remember since I have been volunteering, the discussion turned to dementia. The two men I was sitting with shared their thoughts on their own varied experiences of the disease and the strategies they used to try to come to terms with it.  Although it was a serious conversation there was much laughter and it was agreed that when possible it helped to try to find humour in the problems the illness  posed.

On other tables in the cafe conversations were not so serious and there was talk of childhood memories, cricket and zips vs fly buttons!

Godshill Woods on a Summer Day

Lovely walk in the sunshine today at Godshill woods. A spitfire circled up in the blue yonder, while down below we talked of blackbirds' song vs the song of the song-thrush, the Famous Five vs the Secret Seven, life in the city vs life in the country, nimbus clouds vs a mackerel sky and many other things.

Good to see John back on his feet!

Who's been making dens?

Walking at Rockford Common

The Pals walking up to the common

Across the old gravel pit

We chatted about silver birches
and how their bark becomes dark and gnarled with age

We ended up here for coffee, tea, beer and more chatter.
